Democratic Innovations:
An effective solution to the crisis of electoral democracy?

Are you a graduate student or an early career scholar working on democratic innovations or related topics? Here is your chance to showcase your research-in-progress at our upcoming conference! We invite abstracts for poster presentations from emerging scholars eager to explore the necessity and impact of democratic innovations, with a special (but not exclusive) focus on sortition and deliberative minipublics. The event will feature insightful discussions and inputs by renowned speakers. It will also providenetworking opportunities for scholars interested in democratic innovations.

Guidelines: Please send an abstract of your poster contribution to demoscan@unige.ch by 25 June 2024. Structure of the abstract (one A4 page): Context and research question; Methods; (Expected) results; Discussion. Authors will be notified of poster acceptance or non-acceptance by 5 July. Accepted presenters should send their posters by 10 September. Posters should be devoted to research-in-progress and clearly communicate key findings and insights.
Benefits: Accepted authors will have the opportunity to present their research to a diverse audience of scholars. The aim is to provide opportunities for feedback and personal contacts. They will also receive CHF 250 as a contribution to their travel expenses.
Timeline (September 2024): The conference will be opened on the 26th at 18:00, by a public lecture by Loïc Blondiaux (Paris) and a roundtable in French. The academic part (in English) will start on the 27th at 9:00 and will end on the 28th at 14:00. A dedicated poster session is scheduled to take place in the early afternoon of the 27th.
